Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite and remote support for desktop hardware, software, and AV systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain conference room AV equipment and video conferencing solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve desktop and AV issues with minimal downtime.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for maintenance and upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory for desktop equipment.
  • Travel to other locations as needed.

Job Title: AV & Desktop Support Technician

Job Location: Long Island City, NY (Onsite)

Employment Type: Contract to Hire (6-12 Months)

Pay Range: $25/hr (W2),

Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Interviews: In office in Long Island City, possibly 2 rounds

About The Opportunity

Our Government client located in Long Island City, NY is seeking an experienced AV & Desktop Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support across desktop computing and audio-visual environments. This role will support employees with hardware, software, connectivity, and AV technology while helping ensure reliable day-to-day technology operations.

The ideal candidate combines strong desktop troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience supporting conference rooms, video conferencing solutions, projectors, displays, sound systems, and other AV equipment. This position requires strong customer service and communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support for desktop hardware, software, peripherals, and connectivity issues.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain audio-visual systems, including conference room technology, displays, projectors, video conferencing solutions, and sound systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve escalated desktop and AV issues while minimizing downtime and disruption to users.
  • Configure and calibrate AV equipment to maintain optimal audio and visual performance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset-management records for desktop equipment.
  • Conduct routine assessments of AV equipment and identify potential upgrades, replacements, or maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and external service providers on AV maintenance, repairs, installations, and upgrades.
  • Provide hands-on support during AV installations and conference room setups.
  • Develop and follow best practices for AV system configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Travel to other locations as needed to provide onsite technical support and assist with AV installations and upgrades.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of full-time experience in computer maintenance and repair, including at least one year of experience supervising staff performing computer maintenance and repair.
  • Strong understanding of audio-visual technologies, including projectors, displays, video conferencing equipment, conference room technology, and sound systems.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting desktop hardware, software, AV equipment, and network connectivity issues.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to effectively support end users and collaborate with stakeholders and vendors.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to different work locations as required.
  • Valid New York State driver's license with the ability to maintain a valid license throughout the assignment.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional who is equally comfortable troubleshooting a user's desktop issue and diagnosing an AV problem in a conference room. You should be able to communicate effectively with nontechnical users, take ownership of escalated issues, coordinate with vendors when necessary, and maintain a strong focus on minimizing technology downtime.
