Job summary

Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co. is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to investigate and resolve customer technical issues on Liebherr mining trucks, including autonomous haulage systems (AHS). The role combines field service and remote engineering support to ensure reliability and performance.

The candidate will work a 12-hour roster with alternating weeks on and off, and travel up to 20%. Strong collaboration with affiliates, engineering teams, and customers is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSME/BSEE/BSCS) with 3 years of relevant mining/engineering experience.
• Experience with autonomous haulage systems (AHS) preferred; system analysis and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in CAD tools and real-time embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote and on-site engineering support for mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
• Resolve issues promptly by coordinating with affiliates, customers, and suppliers.
• Analyze PIRs and PARs to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to design reviews and propose hardware/software improvements.
• Maintain documentation and training materials for service teams.
