Job summary

Shield AI is seeking an experienced engineer to develop and integrate autonomy software for launched effects platforms. You will own major features from design through live flight testing and operational deployment, collaborating with Autonomy Capabilities, Perception teams, and autopilot vendors.

The role requires 5+ years in C++ with real-time or embedded systems, Linux development, and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance. Travel to test sites and customer exercises is expected.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent advanced degree experience).
• Strong proficiency in C++ and experience developing or integrating real‑time or embedded systems.
• Experience with Linux‑based development and embedded systems.
• Experience integrating complex software and hardware systems.
• Experience supporting system integration, testing, or field events.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate autonomy software onto launched effects platforms, including payload computer bring‑up, autopilot integration, multi‑agent coordination, and deployment to disconnected environments.
• Own major features or subsystems; drive technical execution, mentor teammates, and help deliver complex autonomy capabilities.
• Partner with Autonomy Capabilities, Perception teams, and vendors to deliver integrated autonomy capabilities.
• Contribute to design reviews, ICDs, integration planning, and post‑mortems to improve engineering rigor.
• Build, configure, and validate mission‑ready systems for releases and fleet deployments.
