Shield AI, founded in 2015, is a defense-tech company building autonomy software for aircraft and unmanned systems. The Autonomous Pilot Integration team develops autonomy across emerging domains, standing up autonomy on brand-new platforms and mission profiles with end-to-end development from software-in-the-loop to live test exercises.

This hands-on role requires C++ and Linux proficiency, embedded systems experience, and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance; travel and cross-team

Qualifications

• BS/MS in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Linux-based development.
• Experience integrating embedded or real-time software systems.
• Experience supporting integration, testing, or operational field events.
• Strong systems-level problem-solving skills.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Stand up autonomy on new platforms by integrating Shield AI capabilities with platform software.
• Develop and field autonomy: platform integration, sensors, mission behaviors, multi-agent coordination.
• Partner with platform teams to validate interfaces and ensure platform compatibility.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver integrated autonomy solutions.
• Contribute to design reviews, ICDs, integration planning, and post-mortems.
• Prepare mission-ready systems through hardware-software testing and live demos.
