Job summary

Cyngn, Inc. in Mountain View, CA seeks a Software Engineer on the CLAM team to enhance calibration, localization and HD map creation for its autonomous vehicle fleets. You will work in a small, focused group on production-quality software powering real deployments.

The role emphasizes ownership of components, collaboration with vehicle infra, hardware, QA, and other autonomy teams, and growth under senior engineers in a startup environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in robotics, CS, electrical engineering or related field.
• Solid foundation in probability theory, linear algebra, 3D geometry, and spatial transforms.
• Familiarity with 3D Lidar mapping/localization concepts (LOAM, GICP).
• Experience with state estimation frameworks (EKF, GTSAM, Ceres).
• 2–4 years building robotics or autonomous vehicle software.

Responsibilities

• Implement, tune, and test mapping, localization, and sensor calibration algorithms for autonomous vehicle platforms using C++ and Python.
• Contribute to tooling and metrics for performance validation and continuous testing frameworks.
• Debug and analyze algorithm performance with real-world and simulated sensor data.
• Balance tasks, code reviews, and learning to meet product milestones in a fast-paced startup.
