Job summary

General Motors is seeking a SEAM Intern in Sunnyvale, CA for a hands-on project focused on sensing, estimation, localization, and autonomy reliability. You will collaborate with engineers to design algorithms, implement software, evaluate system performance, and study sensing in real-world autonomous driving systems.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Masters in Robotics or related fields, with strong C++/Python skills and knowledge in state estimation, sensor fusion, and mapping.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Masters in a technical field (Robotics, CS, EE, etc.).
• Experience in robotics, state estimation, or sensor fusion from coursework or projects.
• Strong programming in C++ and/or Python.
• Foundation in linear algebra, probability, geometry, optimization.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Availability for full-time, 40 hours/week during internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate algorithms for sensor fusion and state estimation.
• Work with camera, lidar, radar, and other data sources.
• Implement software for data processing, visualization, and offline analysis.
• Analyze accuracy, robustness, latency, and failure modes.
• Follow software engineering best practices, including CI and testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document findings.
