Job summary

Alten USA, a federal contractor and engineering leader, is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer to join our on-site team in North Reading or Woburn, MA. You will design, develop, and debug software across the robotics stack, focusing on autonomous navigation and manipulation with ROS 2 in C++ and Python.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, integrate subsystems, validate with simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and contribute to a high-quality codebase and deployment processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Professional software experience in robotics or autonomous systems.
• Hands-on experience with ROS 2, C++, Python, and Linux-based development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software components across the robotics platform.
• Develop and deploy robotics applications using ROS 2 in C++ and Python.
• Integrate software across sensors, actuators, compute platforms, and control frameworks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance, reliability, and robot behavior issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features and support deployment.
• Participate in software architecture discussions and code reviews.
• Support validation through simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Contribute to tooling and deployment process improvements.
