Job summary

General Motors in Sunnyvale, CA seeks an Engineering Manager for Planner Evaluation to lead the Motion Planning team. You will help define metrics, workflows, and analysis to advance GM's Super Cruise program while guiding cross-functional teams in simulation and on-road evaluation.

You will own multi-quarter roadmaps, drive architectural decisions, and establish verification strategies. Expect mentorship, CI/CD improvements, and collaboration across Safety, Systems Engineering, and Product.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in CS, Robotics, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in engineering analysis, ML evaluation, or autonomy analytics.
• 3+ years evaluating dynamic systems using time-series data.
• 3+ years building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong Python in production environments, including testing and reviews.
• Comfort with C++ codebases, debugging and instrumentation.
• Experience with data visualization for large-scale analysis.
• Proven technical leadership and cross-team influence.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and clarity.
• Passion for self-driving technology and real-world impact.

Responsibilities

• Own multi-quarter roadmap designs for autonomy planner evaluation.
• Guide developers through system design and implementation.
• Establish verification and validation strategies for planning systems.
• Partner with Safety, Systems Engineering, and Product for onboard requirements.
• Lead root-cause investigations using data-driven methods and tests.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical judgment and quality.
• Improve software delivery via CI, automated tests, and code reviews.
• Develop top-tier engineers within a fast-paced, inclusive setting.
• Lead technical reviews and promote best practices across teams.
• Contribute to GM engineering culture and principles.
