Job summary

Heven AeroTech in Bingen, Washington seeks a Machine Learning Engineer - Autonomy to develop and deploy ML and autonomy capabilities for uncrewed aircraft. The role covers perception, tracking, sensor fusion, planning, and integration with flight-control and mission systems from simulation to flight test.

The engineer will collaborate with ML Engineers, Platform Engineers, Flight Test, and aircraft teams to move autonomy from development to flight.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in CS/EE/Robotics or related field.
• 2–5 years developing ML or autonomy software on robotic/UAS platforms.
• Strong C++ and Python, Linux-based development.
• Experience with perception, sensor integration, and real-time systems.
• Professional English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and deploy ML and autonomy capabilities for uncrewed aircraft, with emphasis on onboard compute.
• Develop mission-level autonomous behaviors using state machines, behavior trees, planners, and ML.
• Develop and integrate perception, including detection, tracking, sensor fusion, and geospatial reasoning.
• Integrate autonomy software with autopilots, companion computers, and payload interfaces.
• Develop production-quality C++/Python software for real-time execution and GPU/embedded platforms.
• Use simulation, SIL/HIL, bench-test to evaluate autonomy behavior before flight.
• Support aircraft integration, ground and flight tests, analyze logs and data for improvements.
• Collaborate across ML, Platform, Flight Test, avionics, electrical, mechanical teams.
