Job summary

Heven AeroTech in the United States seeks a Machine Learning Engineer – Autonomy to develop and deploy ML and autonomy for uncrewed aircraft. You will work with mission systems, flight-control interfaces, and onboard compute to bring autonomy from development to flight tests.

Candidates should have a BS and 2–5 years of experience, strong C++/Python, Linux, perception, sensor fusion, and experience with ROS 2 or MAVLink is a plus; DoD clearance eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in CS, EE, robotics, aerospace, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of ML or autonomy software on robotic/UAS platforms.
  • Strong C++ and Python, Linux-based development.
  • English proficiency required.
  • Preferred: UAS autonomy, flight test experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and deploy ML and autonomy for uncrewed aircraft, focusing on real onboard compute.
  • Create autonomous behaviors using state machines, planners, and ML.
  • Develop perception: detection, tracking, sensor fusion, scene understanding.
  • Interface autonomy software with autopilots, sensors, data links, and C2 systems.
  • Write production-quality C++ and Python for real-time/near-real-time execution on NVIDIA GPUs.
  • Use simulation, SIL/HIL, bench-tests to evaluate autonomy before flight.
  • Support integration, ground tests, and flight tests; analyze logs to improve.
