Job summary

Heven AeroTech in Washington and Virginia is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer - Autonomy to develop and deploy ML and autonomy for uncrewed aircraft systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to progress autonomy from development through simulation, integration, ground test, and flight test.

Applicants should have 2–5 years of experience, strong C++ and Python, Linux, and experience with perception/sensor fusion, as well as good English communication.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2–5 years in ML or autonomy software for robotic/ UAS platforms.
  • Proficient in C++ and Python on Linux with ML frameworks.
  • English proficiency required (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and deploy ML and autonomy on UAS.
  • Create autonomous behaviors using state machines, planners, or ML.
  • Develop perception capabilities: detection, tracking, sensor fusion.
  • Interface autonomy software with autopilots and flight systems.
  • Write production-quality C++ and Python for real-time execution.
  • Support testing environments: SIL, HIL, bench, flight tests.
