Job summary

Thundermist Health Center seeks an autonomous Nurse Practitioner to provide walk-in and same-day care across our community. You’ll manage acute and chronic illness, perform point-of-care testing, and mentor NP students while maintaining complete records and collaborating with the care team.

You will be a licensed RI NP with ongoing CEU commitment, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced ambulatory setting that serves diverse populations.

Qualifications

• Active Rhode Island RN and NP licensure.
• ANA certification in family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, or pediatrics.
• Commitment to ongoing CEU and professional development.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills with proficiency in medical terminology.
• Commitment to patient-centered, high-quality care for diverse and underserved populations, with a health equity focus.
• Compassion, cultural humility, and alignment with Thundermist’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care including history, physical examination, and management of acute and chronic illness.
• Evaluate and treat acute, episodic illness and injury — lacerations, fractures, sprains, infections, and more.
• Perform point-of-care testing (rapid strep, flu, COVID, urinalysis, STI, and more).
• Perform wound care, suturing, splinting, and minor surgical procedures.
• Order diagnostic tests and initiate treatment based on results.
• Prescribe medications within scope of practice.
• Triage patients and determine appropriate level of care, escalation, or transfer.
• Provide discharge instructions and coordinate follow-up care.
