Job summary

Waabi is seeking an experienced Fleet Specialist Trainer to own the development and delivery of our Fleet Specialist workforce. You will design and deliver the technical curriculum for vehicle systems, diagnostics, and field procedures, ensuring safety and proficiency before live deployments.

You will lead onboarding, deliver VO and FS phase training, participate in field ridealongs, and coordinate with Dispatch to translate engineering changes into actionable field instructions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years direct experience as a Fleet Specialist or equivalent field ops in autonomous/Class 8 vehicles.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and operating autonomous vehicle systems, onboard hardware and software interfaces.
• Familiarity with Platform Shakeout Tests, Mixed Reality Training scenarios, and pre/post-trip inspection protocols.
• Ability to deliver structured, safety-critical training and assess performance in hands-on field environments.
• Strong communication skills to translate complex tech concepts to trainees of all levels.
• Excellent documentation and record-keeping in LMS or comparable tracking systems.
• Occasional travel to other operational sites may be required.

Responsibilities

• Direct onboarding for Fleet Specialists, delivering full training curriculum from classroom to field certification.
• Deliver structured instruction across all VO and FS phases.
• Support ride-alongs as Fleet Specialist resource, providing real-time context on vehicle systems and FS-VO coordination.
• Lead FS trainees to meet defined proficiency thresholds.
• Serve as the primary technical instructor for autonomous vehicle systems, hardware, software interfaces, and diagnostic tools.
• Deliver and assess Platform Shakeout Test (PST) and Mixed Reality Training (MRT) modules.
• Maintain continuous learning via refresher training and recertification after SOPs, upfits, software updates, and feature releases.
• Coordinate with Training Manager and Dispatch to translate engineering changes into clear field instructions.
• Log trainee progress using Daily Training Tracker and Jira updates.
• Mentor high-performing Fleet Specialists through Train-the-Trainer programs.
