Job summary

Waabi is seeking a highly skilled Vehicle Operator to conduct autonomous vehicle testing on closed courses and public roads, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. You will execute platform verification and release testing, produce precise evaluations, and train operators across sites.

Travel to partner proving grounds and other sites will be required. Base shift is 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM MT with flexibility for days, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• 8+ years as Vehicle Operator, commercial test driver or equivalent Class 8 role, incl. 4+ years on autonomous/ADAS vehicles.
• CDL Class A, current Medical Examiner's Certificate, clean driving record, background check, and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 8 autonomous and manual vehicles on closed courses and public roads per Vehicle Operator standard.
• Own in-seat execution of platform V&V and release testing, incl. safety limits and driver override response.
• Produce precise written evaluations separating baseline from novel behavior for engineering action.
• Conduct vehicle dynamics and characterization campaigns, incl. offsite testing at partner proving grounds.
• Serve as qualified evaluator for operator certification and administer Knowledge/Proficiency tests.
• Check and clear operators onto platform; train operators on new platforms.
