Job summary

Waabi, based in Dallas, seeks an experienced vehicle test engineer to diagnose issues during testing and on-road operations. You will use hardware and software expertise to apply temporary fixes while ensuring safety and performance.

You will log issues, prepare detailed reports, and collaborate with software, hardware, and operations teams to perform root-cause analyses and implement improvements that enhance reliability. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in automotive, robotics, aerospace, or related industry with focus on troubleshooting complex vehicle systems.
• Proficient with Linux-based systems and command-line diagnostics.
• Strong data analysis capabilities and familiarity with spreadsheets or scripting.

Responsibilities

• Quickly identify and diagnose issues during vehicle testing and on-road operations.
• Utilize deep technical knowledge of hardware and software to address failures and anomalies.
• Implement temporary fixes or workarounds to keep vehicles operational while permanent solutions are developed.
• Ensure all applied workarounds maintain safety and performance standards.
• Rigorously log, track, and document all vehicle issues using diagnostic and issue-tracking systems.
• Provide detailed reports with reproduction steps, diagnostic data, and recommended actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analyses on recurring issues.
• Translate technical data into actionable insights for long-term system improvements.
• Recommend and implement process improvements and preventive measures to enhance reliability.
• Participate in pre- and post-test evaluations to ensure test-readiness.
• Serve as the technical point of contact during vehicle testing.
• Identify opportunities to streamline troubleshooting protocols and data capture methods.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma and RCA methodologies; familiarity with 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, FTA, or FMEA.
• Travel required 10%
