Job summary

General Motors is advancing autonomous-vehicle validation at the Milford Proving Ground in Milford, MI. The Autonomous Vehicle Test Engineer will plan, execute, and report automated-vehicle testing, collaborating with AV Test Engineering, Vehicle Integration, software and systems engineering, and operations.

Responsibilities include test planning, regression and calibration testing, data collection, and delivering actionable evidence to engineering customers, while maintaining safety and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, systems, computer, robotics, aerospace engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in autonomous vehicles, automotive engineering, robotics, or related operations.
• Experience troubleshooting software-enabled hardware systems using diagnostic information, logs, measurements, observations, and structured problem-solving methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including concise technical reporting and cross-functional coordination.
• Ability to work onsite in a proving-ground environment with exposure to heat, cold, dust, wind, sun, noise.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute autonomous-vehicle testing, translating objectives into test plans and procedures.
• Conduct closed-course vehicle testing, including preparation, scenario execution, and post-run closeout.
• Coordinate test requests, priorities, and readiness with cross-functional teams.
• Monitor vehicle and autonomy-system health, triaging issues and reproducing failures for corrective action.
• Maintain traceability of test requests, procedures, results, and retests in Jira/Confluence/Xray.
• Provide timely feedback to software, systems, and program teams to support release decisions.
