Job summary

Formel D in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Vehicle Test Driver for a full-time role. You will conduct highway testing of autonomous vehicles, coordinating with a co-driver to assess performance under varied driving conditions while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Daily tasks include monitoring vehicle health, starting and reviewing logging equipment, tagging edge cases, following predefined test plans, and collecting data on performance and anomalies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience.
• Must pass internal operator training program.
• Proficiency with PCs and MS Office.
• Valid health status with ability to work two-hour blocks; Medical Examiner's Certificate required.
• Excellent driving skills and clean driving record.
• Experience with autonomous vehicle testing is desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Detail-oriented with data collection accuracy.
• Excellent written and oral English communication.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible hours including weekends/evenings.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway testing with a co-driver to validate autonomous driving systems.
• Monitor vehicle behavior to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Check test vehicle health and report maintenance needs daily.
• Start and log data, tag and annotate edge cases, manage data disks.
• Complete training and stay updated on program requirements.
• Follow predefined test plans to evaluate autonomous drive capabilities on highways.
• Collect data on performance and anomalies during testing.
• Troubleshoot issues, document malfunctions, and collaborate to improve systems.
• Maintain testing documentation and produce detailed reports.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to refine autonomous drive tech.
• Ensure safety guidelines and traffic rules are followed, with emergency procedures as needed.
