Job summary

HireArt is facilitating a contract role for an Autonomous Vehicle Technician in Austin, TX. You will install sensors, compute modules, wiring harnesses, and custom AV hardware, and perform vehicle retrofits with a focus on quality and throughput.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues during builds, update hardware, and follow SOPs for repeatable results. Collaboration with engineering, quality, and operations is essential to deliver high-quality vehicle systems.

Qualifications

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Install and integrate sensors, compute modules, wiring harnesses, and custom AV hardware.

• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during build processes.
• Perform hardware updates, rework, and build corrections as needed.
• Follow SOPs to ensure consistent, repeatable builds.

• Maintain tools, inventory, and clear documentation of work performed.

Job description

Expected compensation: 25.00 - 30.00 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping our client hire hands-on Autonomous Vehicle Technicians to support the retrofit, integration, and production of autonomous vehicle platforms. This role combines mechanical, electrical, and systems-level work in a fast-paced, process-driven environment.

Ideal candidates have experience in automotive or EV-related fields and are skilled in using diagnostic tools, reading technical diagrams, and working with electrical systems. You enjoy working on complex vehicle systems and delivering consistent, high-quality builds.

As An Autonomous Vehicle Technician, You'll

• Install and integrate sensors, compute modules, wiring harnesses, and custom AV hardware
• Execute vehicle retrofits and system integrations with a focus on quality and throughput
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during build processes
• Perform hardware updates, rework, and build corrections as needed
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, repeatable builds
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams
• Maintain tools, inventory, and clear documentation of work performed

Requirements

• Proficient with mechanical and electrical tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Able to work in a team-based, high-throughput production environment
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on vehicles for extended periods

Nice To Have

• Experience with electric or autonomous vehicle systems
• Familiarity with sensor integration (LiDAR, radar, cameras)
• Experience working with low-voltage and high-voltage systems, connectors, and electronic modules
• Experience in automotive service, vehicle retrofit or similar technical field
• Soldering, crimping, or basic fabrication skills
