Job summary

Amazon is seeking a regulatory counsel to help develop and deploy autonomous vehicle and robotics solutions for last mile delivery. You will be the team's subject matter expert on regulations including NHTSA and FMVSA; shape regulatory strategy.

You will work with engineering, product, safety and policy teams to translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance and navigate multi-jurisdiction deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of legal experience.
• 5+ years of post bar admission legal experience.
• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Serve as regulatory expert for autonomous vehicle and robotics programs, with deep knowledge of NHTSA regulations, FMVSA, and state-specific AV and personal delivery device laws.
• Build and maintain compliance frameworks that enable the business to move from testing through commercial deployment.
• Advise engineering and product teams on how regulatory requirements apply to specific product design decisions, testing protocols, and deployment plans.
• Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape and proactively advise the business on implications for current and planned programs.
• Collaborate with the team's product counsel, as well as attorneys across commercial transactions, fleet legal, middle mile, privacy, IP, and litigation on cross-cutting issues.
