Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced attorney to join its legal team as lead counsel for the development and operation of autonomous vehicles and robotics solutions for last mile delivery operations.

You will provide strategic law guidance on product development, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions, collaborating with engineering, operations, and business teams to navigate complex regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of post bar admission legal experience.
• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary legal counsel for autonomous vehicle and robotics initiatives supporting Amazon's last mile delivery operations.
• Advise on federal and state regulatory compliance for autonomous vehicles, including NHTSA regulations, DOT requirements, and state-specific autonomous vehicle and personal robot laws.
• Provide product counseling on autonomous vehicle systems, robotics technologies, and related hardware/software development.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements including technology licensing, development partnerships, and vendor contracts.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, product management, and public policy on strategic initiatives.
• Develop scalable legal processes and frameworks to support rapid innovation and deployment across multiple jurisdictions.
• Manage relationships with outside counsel on specialized regulatory matters and litigation.
• Advise on AI, data privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property issues related to autonomous systems.
• Support risk assessment and mitigation strategies for novel technology deployments.
• Collaborate with public policy teams on regulatory engagement and advocacy efforts.
