Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Autonomous Vehicle Regulatory Program Manager to lead cross-functional regulatory compliance and engagement programs that support the safe development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of automated driving systems (ADS).

You will partner with Safety, Engineering, Legal, Government Affairs, Operations, and Product teams to translate regulatory requirements into actionable workplans, track execution, and prepare for submissions, inquiries, audits, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Proven track record in managing complex, cross-functional programs.
• Deep understanding of regulatory compliance in autonomous vehicle space.
• Strong written and verbal communication for executive audiences.
• Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into executable plans.
• Experience coordinating with legal, safety, and engineering teams.
• Knowledge of safety-critical development lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the execution model for AV regulatory compliance programs across GPSSC, Legal, Government Affairs, Engineering, Operations, and other stakeholders.
• Build and maintain program plans, milestones, timelines, and dependency tracking for regulatory workstreams.
• Coordinate regulatory requirements across federal, state, and local jurisdictions for AV development.
• Translate regulatory requirements into engineering, operational, validation, reporting workplans and track to completion.
• Support regulatory submissions, audits, and inquiries by coordinating inputs and approvals.
• Coordinate responses to regulator questions and data requests with cross-functional teams.
• Establish program governance, risk management, and escalation pathways for regulatory initiatives.
• Identify schedule, scope, and compliance risks; develop mitigation plans and elevate issues.
• Drive continuous improvement in regulatory planning, tools, and processes.
• Partner with technical leaders to ground strategies in safety practices.
• Own regulatory safety case claims and evidence; align with safety strategy.
• Support AV safety case workstreams by aligning regulatory expectations with internal strategy.
• Improve traceability between requirements, deliverables, evidence, and status for leadership decisions.
