Job summary

May Mobility, based in Ann Arbor, MI, seeks a Lead, Safety Assurance to own the company’s AV safety compliance program and regulatory posture. You will engage with federal and state regulators, maintain regulatory submissions, and advise Safety and Legal leadership on risk and strategy.

Reporting to Legal and supporting the engineering safety team, this senior role ensures credible external submissions, durable internal processes, and alignment with FMVSS, NHTSA frameworks, and SAE ADS taxonomy

Qualifications

• 7+ years in AV safety regulation or related field
• Experience with NHTSA Standing General Order (SGO)
• Experience preparing regulatory submissions and correspondence
• Familiarity with FMVSS, NHTSA exemption frameworks, and SAE ADS taxonomy
• Ability to brief senior leadership on regulatory matters

Responsibilities

• Review and approve SGO incident narratives prior to submission
• Monitor federal and state regulatory developments and surface implications to leadership
• Support responses to NHTSA investigations and regulatory actions
• Develop internal safety benchmarks aligned with federal standards
• Prepare and maintain regulatory submission materials and background documents
• Advise Safety and Legal leadership on regulatory strategy and risk
