Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Autonomous Vehicle Safety Case Technical Lead to direct the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of comprehensive safety cases for autonomous vehicle capabilities. You will shape defensible safety arguments, define claims, and ensure alignment with product evolution, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Robotics, Safety Management, or related technical field.
  • 7 years of relevant experience in autonomous driving, ADAS, systems engineering, safety, program leadership, or other safety-critical environments.
  • Experience developing, supporting, or assessing safety cases or assurance cases.
  • Deep knowledge of functional safety and safety assurance concepts, including ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ISO 8800, and UL 4600.
  • Ability to decompose high-level safety goals into implementable requirements and evidence needs.
  • Experience leading large cross-functional technical efforts with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and executive audiences.
  • Passion for autonomous vehicle technology and safe ADS deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, governance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of safety cases for the ADS.
  • Define safety case strategies based on industry best practices and internal objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop safety case claims and evidence.
  • Author and maintain safety case materials for product submissions and audits.
  • Present safety case approaches and progress to executives, partners, and regulators.
  • Align safety evidence with regulatory expectations and industry standards.
