Job summary

General Motors in Sunnyvale, California, is seeking an Autonomous Driving Software Engineer Intern to contribute to design, development, and validation of software powering self-driving systems. You will collaborate with AV Platform engineers to build scalable, safety-critical software across vehicle compute systems.

This internship offers hands-on experience with C++, Python, embedded Linux, ROS, Yocto/Buildroot, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware, safety, and validation teams.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program in CS/AI/ML/robotics or related STEM field.
• Graduating between December 2027 and August 2029 with at least one additional term remaining.
• Available for 12-week summer internship with full-time hours.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy production-ready code across vehicle platform software.
• Ramp up quickly on codebase, product area, and system with limited iterations.
• Participate in design and code reviews, discussions, and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, test, and safety teams for integration.
• Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders across teams.
