Job summary

GM’s Autonomous Vehicle Platform Software Engineering organization invites you to join as an Autonomous Driving Software Engineer Intern. You’ll help design, develop, and validate software powering self-driving systems, collaborating with AV Platform engineers to build scalable, safety-critical software for real-world vehicle environments.

The role targets a 12-week internship with a hybrid work model, combining office time in Sunnyvale, CA and Warren, MI with remote collaboration as needed.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and graduating between Dec 2027 and Aug 2029.
• Available to work full-time for the 12-week internship period.
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures; proficient in C++ or Python.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy production-ready code across vehicle platform software components.
• Ramp up quickly on the codebase and collaborate in design and code reviews.
• Work with hardware, systems, test, and safety teams to ensure robust software integration.
• Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders throughout the project.
