Shepherd in San Francisco seeks an exceptional Product Manager to own Nova, our autonomous underwriting initiative. You will lead roadmap, discovery, and execution at the intersection of engineering, pricing, and leadership, partnering with underwriters to ship an autonomous pricing system.

You are a technical product leader with 4+ years of experience, strong SQL skills, and a track record of delivering AI-powered production systems.

Qualifications

• Hungry and driven with a track record in leading hard technical products.
• Technical in practice, able to read code, discuss architecture, and reason about models.
• Shipped AI into production and understands evals and model quality.
• Statistically literate with data-centric decision making.
• Willing to go deep on domain knowledge and risk understanding.
• Direct communicator who argues clearly and with intent.
• Opinionated, high agency, and comfortable making fast decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own the product end to end: vision, discovery, prioritization, execution, and UX decisions.
• Understand users by sitting with underwriters and reading submissions to inform requirements.
• Define correct system behavior: materiality thresholds, regressions, and roll-up results.
• Set the autonomy bar: determine when the system acts independently and when humans intervene.
• Ship quickly with engineering: prototype AI tooling, review eval data, and push improvements.
