Job summary

Penn Medicine's Department of Surgery at HUP Cedar seeks an experienced NP or PA to serve as the primary APP representative for the surgical team. This autonomous, on-site role collaborates with attending surgeons, hospitalists, and nursing leadership to ensure seamless surgical care.

You will evaluate new surgical consults, develop treatment plans, manage hospital stays, and coordinate discharge planning while practicing at the top of your license.

Qualifications

• ACLS certified
• BLS/CPR as healthcare provider required
• Acute Care NP or Master’s PA required
• PA-C/CRNP license active in PA at hire
• Prescriptive authority required

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive evaluations of new surgical consults at HUP Cedar.
• Develop and implement treatment plans with attending surgeons and hospitalist team.
• Manage ongoing surgical consults and follow patients during hospitalization.
• Perform bedside procedures within credentialed privileges.
• Facilitate communication between HUP Cedar and Department of Surgery teams.
• Provide patient and family education regarding surgical conditions and postoperative care.
• Assist in discharge planning and transitions of care.
• Support quality improvement and departmental projects.
