Job summary

DoorDash Labs, an independent DoorDash team in Oakland, seeks a Hardware Validation Engineer to verify and validate the Dot robot system requirements. You will design and run test campaigns to ensure performance, safety and regulatory goals are met, traveling to test sites in CA, AZ, and MI as needed.

The role requires 5+ years in automotive/mechatronics system-level testing, hands-on CAN/Ethernet data logging, and experience with environmental testing.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in engineering related to robotics, mechanical, electrical or CS.
• 5+ years of industry experience in automotive or mechatronics system-level testing & validation.
• Hands-on CAN bus & Ethernet data logging and analysis experience.
• Experience with environmental testing (thermal, shock, IP).
• Proven ability to manage complex cross-functional projects.
• Familiarity with autonomous vehicle perception systems.

Responsibilities

• Validate the next-generation robot delivery hardware.
• Develop and execute robot system tests with requirement owners.
• Validate electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety and sensing performance across environments.
• Improve robot reliability through rigorous testing and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Software, Firmware, Controls, AI and Ops to plan and resolve issues.
• Construct and maintain test tooling, fixtures, and documentation.
• Lead test reviews and report progress on the test program.
