Job summary

Motion Recruitment seeks a Technical Product Manager — Robotics and Automation in Brooklyn, NY. You will own the robotics and autonomy layer of an autonomous laboratory platform, guiding workcells, instruments, control software, and simulation environments from design to deployment.

You will work hands‑on on the lab floor with hardware, software, and science teams, balancing throughput, reliability, and cost while shaping product direction in a rapidly evolving tech environment.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of product management or cross‑functional engineering experience.
• At least 2 years in robotics, automation, or hardware/software products.
• Experience at a technical or deep‑tech company.
• Strong technical understanding across automation disciplines (robotics, controls, mechatronics).
• Ability to translate engineering constraints into clear requirements and priorities.
• Experience maturing automated or semi‑automated production processes and reliability test suites.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap for laboratory workcells and instrument integrations from needs to deployment.
• Define requirements for new workcells and integrations through design reviews and handoffs.
• Guide hardware lifecycle decisions from prototype to production readiness.
• Shape software for the lab: scheduling, orchestration, control, sample handling and error recovery.
• Establish autonomy levels and safety/compliance standards for hazardous processes.
• Collaborate with robotics, hardware, software, and science teams to align roadmaps.
