Job summary

Tampa General Hospital, Inc. seeks an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) with ECMO-specific critical care experience to support its ECMO Service Line.

The APP/PA will provide comprehensive patient care, collaborate with intensivists, perfusionists, and nursing staff, and educate families about ECMO therapy. Autonomy within established scope is possible, with opportunities to advance the ECMO program and participate in multidisciplinary rounds and quality

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in critical care (ECMO experience preferred).
• Current licensure as APRN or PA in Florida.
• ACLS & BLS certification required; ECMO certification preferred.
• National certification required for PAs; APRNs with acute care credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to ECMO patients, including assessments and care plan development.
• Monitor ECMO parameters daily and troubleshoot complications.
• Perform bedside procedures (arterial/central lines; cannulation assistance) per guidelines.
• Collaborate with intensivists, perfusionists, and nursing staff to optimize outcomes.
• Educate families about ECMO therapy and address concerns.
• Interpret diagnostic tests and lab results to guide care decisions.
• Identify and report issues needing further assessment or intervention.
• Work autonomously and with a multidisciplinary team to manage care.
