Job summary

Kett Engineering Corporation is seeking Autonomous Systems Validation Operators to work on advanced self-driving vehicle testing programs in the Palo Alto area. You will drive prototype vehicles, collect data, and provide critical feedback to enable safe autonomous features.

The role emphasizes hands-on driving, data capture, and collaboration with engineering teams to diagnose issues while adhering to safety protocols across diverse environments.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Driver's License in the state of residence.
• Clean driving record with no suspensions/revocations in the last 3–5 years.
• No drug or alcohol-related driving incidents in the last 3 years.
• No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years.
• Willingness to undergo ongoing MVR monitoring.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Prior automotive driving or AV testing experience.
• Ability to operate or monitor autonomous vehicles for 6–8 hours daily.
• Ability to travel up to 50% for off-site testing.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate prototype autonomous test vehicles in various modes and conditions for up to 8 hours daily.
• Adhere to safety protocols; intervene or disengage when necessary to maintain vehicle safety.
• Execute predefined autonomous test cases and edge-case scenarios on roads and closed tracks.
• Identify and debug hardware, software, and sensor issues using diagnostic tools.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers; communicate issues via ticketing systems.
• Manage onboard logging equipment and verify data transfer for analysis.
• Perform OTA software updates and system flashes across vehicle ECUs and control units.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and sensor calibration prior to routes.
• Prepare clear post-drive reports, logs, and safety feedback for stakeholders.
