CARIAD, Inc. in Mountain View, CA, seeks an Engineer I for VLA Planning and Control Deployment (Intern) to advance planning and control algorithms in autonomous driving.

You will work on constrained optimization, trajectory refinement, and integrating learned model outputs into vehicle behavior. Responsibilities include prototyping models, data prep, experiments, and documenting results while collaborating with planning and deployment engineers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in OR/Control Engineering or related fields.
• Experience with QP or classical control methods (MPC/LQR/PID).
• Ability to implement and debug in Python or C++.
• Ability to assess trajectory feasibility and runtime.

Responsabilités

• Prototype, train, and fine-tune VLA models or supporting perception components.
• Prepare driving datasets and evaluation splits; improve data quality and coverage.
• Measure model accuracy, driving behavior, robustness, and inference cost.
• Document methods, results, and limitations; deliver reproducible prototype and final report.
