Job summary

General Motors LLC invites interns to join the Biometrics & Sensing research group within the Vehicle Safety, Engineering & Defense Research Lab. You will work on immersive user studies for automated driving, build simulators, and publish findings to advance next-gen GM tech.

Collaboration with universities and labs will extend research impact. You’ll develop tools for human-vehicle interfaces, conduct user studies, and contribute to cross-functional teams while gaining hands-on experience in

Qualifications

Pursuit of an Advanced Degree (Masters or PhD) in a STEM field.
Must be a current student.
Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
Hands-on experience building or writing software for a real-time simulator to develop autonomous systems and HMIs.
Research experience in autonomous vehicle tech, connected vehicles, robotics, UX/HMI or related areas.
Strong theoretical, experimental or software programming skills.

Responsibilities

Develop immersive user experience simulation solutions for automated driving-enabled vehicles and robotic systems.
Create tools to aid in development or deployment of human-vehicle interfaces.
Conduct user studies to enable evidence-based decisions about in-vehicle interfaces.
Participate in government-funded research work.
Document research through internal and external publications.
Facilitate technology transfer via cross-functional teamwork.
