Standex Engraving in Maumee, OH is seeking a Tooling Technician to support the build, finishing, maintenance, and repair of production and prototype thermoforming tooling used in automotive soft‑trim manufacturing. You’ll be part of a skilled tooling team throughout prototype to production, contributing to tooling quality and manufacturing success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years in tooling, manufacturing, or related industrial environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality workmanship.
• Ability to perform repetitive, detailed manual tasks.
• Ability to read basic tooling prints or work instructions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, finish, and polish production and prototype tooling and components using hand tools and powered equipment.
• Inspect tooling surfaces during finishing to ensure cosmetic and functional quality.
• Perform routine service, preventative maintenance, and repairs on vacuum forming and thermoforming tools.
• Assist with tooling changeovers and setups to support production schedules and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot tooling-related production issues and support continuous improvement.
• Support tool tryouts, debugging, and adjustments during new program launches and engineering changes.
• Perform minor tooling modifications, surface refinishing, and repairs as needed.
• Maintain tooling organization, storage, and labeling for traceability.
• Assist with general shop maintenance, housekeeping, and 5S activities.
• Follow all safety, quality, and work instruction requirements.
