Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a Senior Chemist in the Automotive division to support new product development for toner systems in vehicle refinish applications. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership.

Responsibilities include leading complex development projects, optimizing pigment dispersion, and delivering commercially viable formulations. This role requires hands-on lab work, data analysis, and interaction with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field required.
• 5 years of coatings formulation experience required.
• Waterborne coatings formulation experience required.
• Ability to determine color differences and tint paint to customer colors.
• Basic computer knowledge for data analysis and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead development projects of moderate to high complexity within the Automotive Toner Team.
• Complete product development projects within defined timelines.
• Lead the development of new products through design, optimization, scale-up and commercialization.
• Develop and optimize pigment dispersion technologies for color, stability, rheology, and application performance.
• Provide support to manufacturing and internal customers as needed.
• Prepare and test paint samples and analyze data to guide path forward.
• Communicate with management, marketing, manufacturing, procurement, vendors and partners to ensure successful commercialization.
• Follow PCG Stage-Gate and Quality Systems.
