Job summary

Tidewater Community College seeks an Automotive Technology Adjunct to teach courses in automotive technology at its Chesapeake campus. The role covers classroom, remote via Zoom, or online sessions with diverse student backgrounds and active engagement.

The adjunct will plan, teach, and provide timely feedback, aligning activities with learning outcomes and maintaining office hours for student support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in teaching field or Associate degree in teaching field with demonstrated competency in teaching field.
• Two years related work experience.
• ASE certified in the areas being taught.
• Recent automotive training (within the past five years) with a transcript or certification from the program.
• Ability to communicate effectively in an electronic format.

Responsibilities

• Create a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in a discipline and/or program.
• Align course activities with student learning outcomes; employ active learning strategies and appropriate technology.
• Deliver instruction to support learning outcomes and conduct meaningful assessments, including at least one assessment within the first 15% of class.
• Possibility of working during the day, evening and/or weekend as needed for assigned courses.
• Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each course assigned.
