Job summary

Tidewater Community College seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach courses aligned with expertise in a classroom, Zoom, or online environment, serving South Hampton Roads campuses. The role emphasizes student learning outcomes, timely feedback, and flexible scheduling.

The successful candidate will plan, organize, and deliver instruction, engage students during office hours, and collaborate to promote student success across modalities. This position may require day, evening, or weekend classes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Mechatronics/Industrial Technology with demonstrated teaching competency.
• Dual Enrollment Instructor capable to teach electrical and process controls.
• Two years related work experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in an electronic format.

Responsibilities

• Create a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in a discipline and/or program.
• Aligns course activities with student learning outcomes and uses active learning strategies to foster engagement; employ technology and materials to support outcomes; provide timely feedback.
• Deliver instruction to meet stated learning outcomes and assess learning with timely evaluations; participate in course surveys and action planning as needed.
• Responsibilities may include work during the day, evening and/or weekend as determined by the course(s) assigned.
• Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each course assigned.
