Job Title: Automotive Technician

Location: Charlotte, NC 28269

Are you a skilled Automotive Technician seeking a new opportunity? Look no further! We are hiring at the United States Postal Service - Headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform automotive maintenance and repairs
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems
  • Work on suspensions, hydraulics, and heating, ventilation & air conditioning
  • Utilize automotive service excellence (ASE) certification
Functional Purpose

Perform routine and complex repairs and maintenance on all types of motor vehicles used in the postal fleet; troubleshoot and diagnose vehicle malfunctions using computerized test equipment; assist lower-level employees as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnose vehicle operating difficulties and perform operational checks on engines and systems, including emissions, electrical, and electronic components.
  • Use specialized diagnostic equipment to interpret trouble codes and evaluate vehicle performance.
  • Conduct visual and auditory inspections, road calls, and road tests; document vehicle problems.
  • Provide guidance to mechanics and technicians on repairs and diagnostics.
  • Perform maintenance from preventive inspections, engine tune-ups, to major component repairs.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle records, including labor, parts, and equipment used.
  • Follow safety practices and comply with environmental regulations.
Supervision

Managed by the Manager or Supervisor of Vehicle Maintenance.
