Job summary

The City of Temple seeks an Automotive Maintenance Technician to service light-duty vehicles and equipment, performing preventative maintenance and diagnosing, repairing, and ordering parts with minimal supervision. Applicants must furnish their own hand tools.

Responsibilities include roadside response, road and static tests, coordinating vehicle pickups from vendors, maintaining a clean shop, and adhering to city policies and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• EPA 609 Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• ASE Certifications A4 and A5 or two additional years of experience.
• Valid driver's license required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance services in conformance to manufacturer specifications
• Diagnoses, repairs, and order parts for light-duty vehicle and equipment systems
• Responds to roadside calls
• Conducts road and static test to verify repairs
• Takes and picks up vehicles from outside vendors for repairs and services
• Maintains a clean and orderly shop
• Follows the city policies, procedures and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years as an Automotive Maintenance Technician
• Furnishes own hand tools

Certificates And License Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• EPA Section 609 Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
• ASE Certifications A4 and A5 OR
• Two (2) additional years of experience as an Automotive Maintenance Technician
