Cobb County Government is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance and repairs on county-owned vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, inventory management, and ensuring safe operation of tools and machinery. Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and previous experience in vehicle maintenance.
The purpose of this classification is to perform routine maintenance and light repair of County-owned vehicles and equipment.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Positions in this class are primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance and light repairs of vehicles.
Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, smoke, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, fire, unsafe structures, heights, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, animal/wildlife attacks, animal/human bites, explosives, firearms, water hazards, violence, disease, pathogenic substances, or rude/irate customers.
