Job summary

Zabor Automotive in Naperville, IL is seeking an experienced Master Automotive Technician to diagnose and repair across engine, transmission, electrical, and hybrid systems. You will perform Digital Vehicle Inspections and document findings in our shop management system, working independently to meet manufacturer and shop standards.

Join a family-owned shop with a 32-hour minimum weekly guarantee, health insurance after 90 days, 401(k), ASE reimbursement, holidays and PTO, and a Monday–Friday

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional automotive diagnosis and repair experience.
• Multiple ASE certifications (A1–A8) or ASE Master Technician preferred.
• Own a complete set of professional hand tools.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair across engine, transmission, drivetrain, brakes, steering and suspension, A/C, electrical, hybrid, and advanced diagnostics.
• Complete Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVI) in the shop management system.
• Work independently to complete repairs correctly the first time, with team support when needed.
• Road test before and after repairs to confirm the fix.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to the Service Advisor.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized bay and follow all safety protocols.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to a positive shop culture.

We are currently looking to fill all positions for our coming soon, Naperville location. Training will occur at our Crest Hill location prior to starting.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Flat-rate pay with a minimum guarantee of 32 flagged hours per week (when clocked in for all 40 scheduled hours with no major comebacks).

What You'll Do:

• Diagnose and repair across all systems: engine, transmission, drivetrain, brakes, steering and suspension, A/C, electrical, hybrid, and advanced diagnostics.
• Complete Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVI) on incoming vehicles and document findings clearly in the shop management system.
• Work independently to complete repairs correctly the first time, to manufacturer and shop standards (The team will jump in if you get stuck or need help!).
• Road test before and after repairs to confirm the fix and catch any new concerns.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clear to Service Advisor.
• Keep a clean, safe, organized bay and follow all OSHA/EPA and shop safety protocols.
• Support and mentor the team and contribute to a positive shop culture.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of professional automotive diagnosis and repair experience.
• Multiple ASE certifications (A1–A8) or ASE Master Technician preferred.
• Proven ability to work independently across mechanical, electrical, and advanced diagnostic systems.
• Own a complete set of professional hand tools.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and authorization to work in the U.S.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical shop work (bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods).
• Familiarity with shop management software (Tekmetric, Mitchell, ShopWare, etc.) a plus.
