Job summary

Zabor-Auto in Crest Hill, IL is seeking an experienced automotive technician to diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles, from daily drivers to European imports. You’ll complete DVIs, work to factory standards, and road-test repairs.

We offer a minimum 32 hours weekly at flat-rate pay, full health insurance after 90 days, a 401(k) with company contribution after 1 year, and paid holidays. Must have 5+ years experience, ASE certifications, own tools, valid license, and ability to pass

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional automotive diagnosis and repair experience.
• Multiple ASE certifications (A1–A8) or ASE Master Technician.
• Proven ability to work independently across mechanical, electrical, and advanced diagnostic systems.
• Own a complete set of professional hand tools.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and authorization to work in the U.S.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical shop work.
• Familiarity with shop management software (Tekmetric, Mitchell, ShopWare, etc.) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair across all systems: engine, transmission, drivetrain, brakes, steering and suspension, A/C, electrical, hybrid, and advanced diagnostics.
• Complete Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVI) on incoming vehicles and document findings clearly in the shop management system.
• Work independently to complete repairs correctly the first time, to manufacturer and shop standards.
• Road test before and after repairs to confirm the fix and catch any new concerns.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to the Service Advisor.
• Keep a clean, safe, organized bay and follow all OSHA/EPA and shop safety protocols.
• Support and mentor the team and contribute to a positive shop culture.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Flat-rate pay with a minimum guarantee of 32 flagged hours per week (when clocked in for all 40 scheduled hours with no major comebacks).

What You’ll Do:
