Job Description
Overview
Big O Automotive Technicians diagnose, recommend, and perform automotive repairs accurately and efficiently, following all company policies and procedures. Titles are based on ASE certification levels:
- Automotive Technician A – 4 or More ASE Certifications
- Automotive Technician B – 1-3 ASE Certifications
- Automotive Technician C – No ASE Certifications

Responsibilities
- Perform brake, front end, alignment, and mechanical maintenance in accordance with company standards.
- Diagnose and repair customer vehicles, ensuring quality control.
- Train and mentor other employees as directed.
- Maintain smooth workflow and customer service efficiency.
- Provide Big O’s Extra Care Services to customers.
- Participate in weekly store meetings on safety, policies, and product updates.
- Work with management to meet service and sales goals.
- Ensure accurate documentation for completed work for invoicing.
- Utilize company purchasing programs to maximize profitability.
- Complete required training promptly.
- Perform vehicle inspections consistently.
- Achieve service, sales, and productivity targets.
- Handle adjustments and core credits properly.
- Adhere to all company policies and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Minimum two years of experience as a lube/tire/service technician.
- Current Motor Vehicle Inspection License (for Missouri stores).
- Ability to learn new skills and use technical materials.
- Proficient with computers and office tools.
- Ability to operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles safely.
- Effective communication skills with customers.
- Willingness to handle hazardous materials and work outdoors.
- Compliance with PPE regulations.
- Good sensory and physical ability to perform job duties.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Availability for holidays, weekends, and after-hours work.
- Proficiency in English communication.
- Pass pre-employment screenings and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Over two years of automotive shop experience.
- ASE certifications.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
