Job summary

Genuine Parts Company is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for our NAPA retail store to leverage automotive expertise and leadership to drive sales and service excellence in a busy environment.

This developmental role supports the Store Manager across all store functions, including counter sales, inventory receiving, delivery coordination and housekeeping, while maintaining active customer-facing responsibilities. Overtime and keyholder duties may be required to ensure store continuity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in automotive aftermarket or willingness to learn all things automotive.
• Leadership experience with team oversight.
• Passion for customer care and building long-term relationships.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Knowledge of cataloging and/or inventory management systems is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs in certain situations.
• Background in automotive or related industries is a plus.
• Experience in parts store, retail, or service environments is beneficial.
• ASE certifications and NAPA Know How are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Partner daily with Store Manager on operations, sales execution, inventory health, labor/scheduling alignment, and team performance.
• Actively sell and build customer relationships across retail and wholesale channels (in-store, phone, and external dealer calls).
• Model expected behaviors, processes, and customer standards.
• Oversee opening and closing routines including cash reconciliation and facility readiness.
• Handle scheduling input, compliance docs, performance tracking and basic P&L awareness.
• Monitor core store metrics and uncover trends to solve problems.
• Provide leadership, coaching and performance management for store functions.
• Support talent development and mentor successors for advancement.
• Drive safety, asset protection and continuous improvement initiatives.
