Job summary

Genuine Parts Company is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead day-to-day store operations for a NAPA retail location. You will coach team members, oversee counter sales, inventory, and deliveries while maintaining strong customer relationships and sales performance.

The role offers developmental growth toward Store Manager in a fast-paced automotive environment, with potential overtime and keyholder responsibilities opening/closing the store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in the automotive after-market service industry or hobby/DIY world, or willingness to learn all things automotive.
• Leadership experience.
• Passion for delivering customer care and building long-term relationships.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Knowledge of cataloging and/or inventory management systems.
• Ability to lift 60lbs.
• Background in automotive industry, heavy equipment, farm, diesel, marine, or dealership familiarity.
• Experience in parts store, retail, or related management roles.
• Customer-centric approach.
• ASE certifications a plus.
• NAPA Know How.

Responsibilities

• Partner daily with Store Manager on operations, sales execution, inventory health, labor/scheduling, and team performance.
• Actively sell and build customer relationships across retail and wholesale channels (in-store, phone, and external dealer calls).
• Model expected behaviors, processes, and customer standards.
• Open/close routines including security, cash reconciliation, and end-of-day reporting.
• Handle or support scheduling input, compliance documentation, performance tracking, and basic P&L items.
• Monitor store metrics (sales, inventory accuracy, customer satisfaction, cleanliness, labor efficiency, loss prevention).
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for store functions as needed.
• Support talent development and mentorship for advancement.
• Drive adherence to safety, asset protection, and continuous improvement initiatives.
