Job summary

Genuine Parts Company’s NAPA retail team seeks an Assistant Store Manager to lead store operations and customer engagement. You will support the Store Manager across counter sales, inventory, deliveries, and daily tasks while actively selling and serving customers.

You will mentor team members, oversee opening/closing routines, and help drive safety, compliance, and performance metrics in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in automotive after-market or willingness to learn automotive.
• Leadership experience.
• Passion for delivering customer care and building long-term relationships.
• Thrives in fast-paced and complex environments.
• Knowledge of cataloging and/or inventory management systems.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs in some situations.
• Background in automotive/heavy equipment/dealership contexts.
• Experience in parts stores/retail environments.
• Customer-centric mindset.
• Ase certifications and NAPA Know How are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner daily with Store Manager on operations, sales execution, inventory health, labor/scheduling, and team performance.
• Actively sell and build customer relationships across retail and wholesale channels.
• Model expected behaviors, processes, and customer standards.
• Execute or oversee opening and closing routines including cash reconciliation and daily reporting.
• Handle administrative tasks and basic P&L awareness items.
• Monitor core store metrics and drive problem solving for improvements.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for store functions.
• Support talent development and succession planning.
• Drive adherence to safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
