Job summary

Genuine Parts Company's NAPA retail store seeks an Assistant Store Manager to blend automotive know-how, customer service, and operations leadership to drive store performance. You will support the Store Manager, supervise daily tasks, coach team members, and maintain inventory accuracy while delivering excellent customer experiences.

This role may require overtime hours and keyholder responsibilities opening/closing the store; it is designed as a developmental pathway to Store Manager roles

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in automotive after-market or willingness to learn.
• Leadership experience.
• Passion for delivering customer care and building relationships.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Knowledge of cataloging/inventory systems.
• Ability to lift 60 lbs.
• Automotive industry background or interest in heavy equipment/diesel/marine.
• Experience in parts store/retail management.
• Customer-centric approach.
• ASE Certifications a plus.
• NAPA Know How.

Responsibilities

• Partner daily with Store Manager on operations, sales execution, inventory health, labor/scheduling alignment, and team performance.
• Actively sell and build customer relationships across retail and wholesale channels.
• Model expected behaviors, processes, and customer standards.
• Execute or oversee opening and closing routines (security, cash reconciliation, end-of-day reporting, facility readiness).
• Handle or support administrative tasks: scheduling input, compliance documentation, performance tracking/reporting.
• Monitor and act on store metrics (sales, inventory accuracy/turn, customer satisfaction, cleanliness/organization, labor efficiency, loss prevention).
• Provide leadership oversight, training and performance management for store functions; coach and mentor the team.
• Support talent development and advancement for successors.
• Drive adherence to safety, asset protection and continuous improvement initiatives.
