Job summary

HARMAN Automotive's Experiential R&D team seeks an Automotive Sound Quality & Acoustic Engineer in Novi to shape how we listen to, evaluate, and understand advanced automotive audio systems. You will lead subjective sound quality benchmarking, recruit/listen panels, and maintain our Reference Room and demo vehicles.

You’ll work hands-on with measurement systems, vehicles, and emerging audio technologies, collaborating across global teams to improve methodologies and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in acoustics, engineering, physics, or related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in audio, acoustics, or automotive systems.
• Strong interest in sound quality, critical listening, and user perception.
• Hands-on aptitude with equipment, vehicles, prototypes, or lab systems.
• Ability to learn complex technical systems and develop practical solutions.
• Strong ownership, organization, and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate automotive sound quality benchmarking activities in North America.
• Recruit, train, and manage listening panel.
• Operate listening tests and measurements per global methods.
• Collaborate with global teams to improve methods and training.
• Own Novi Reference Room and training vehicles.
• Design acoustic experiments and listening tests for R&D projects.
• Manage projects from concept to completion.
