Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a General Service Technician to perform basic automotive services including oil changes, tire installation and balancing, and inspections while delivering a strong customer experience. The role also includes maintaining a clean, safe shop and assisting other technicians.

Ideal candidates have a valid driver’s license, basic high school education, and are eager to learn. Flexible availability including days/nights/holidays/weekends is preferred, with pre-employment background

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
• Passion for a career as an automotive technician.
• Willing to learn and adapt to new information.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to diagnose and repair basic automotive systems including brakes, alignments, suspensions, cooling and electrical.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to stay current with automotive tech.
• Change engine oil and filter.
• Install and perform tire maintenance and balancing.
• Install batteries and check starting/charging systems.
• Install headlights and other small bulbs.
• Repair flat tires and replace wipers.
• Install tires and stock/unload tires.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep management informed of mechanical problems as they occur.
• Maintain a clean, organized shop and follow safety practices.
