Job summary

Pep Boys in Waxhaw, NC is hiring a General Service Technician. You will perform basic automotive services such as oil changes, tire mounting and balancing, tire repairs, battery checks, and vehicle inspections while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Work includes learning and diagnosing basic automotive systems, maintaining a clean, safe shop, stocking tires, assisting other technicians, and following all safety policies.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Willingness to work days, nights, holidays and weekends.
• Pre-employment background check required.

Responsibilities

• Learn to diagnose and repair basic automotive systems including brakes, alignments, suspensions, cooling and electrical.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to stay current with automotive tech.
• Change engine oil and filter.
• Install and perform tire maintenance.
• Install batteries and check starting/charging systems.
• Install headlights and other small bulbs.
• Repair flat tires.
• Install wiper blades.
• Stock and unload tires.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep management informed of repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain a clean, organized shop.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.
